Give students a real role in telling the school story
KIP TV's Student Media Partnership is a no-cost partnership for area school districts. It gives students an opportunity to help produce thoughtful coverage of the school activities that show the range of talent, effort, and achievement happening beyond the playing field.
The partnership is not a sales program. It is a collaboration designed to give districts a respectful media outlet and give students practical experience in video production, storytelling, planning, interviewing, and teamwork.
What students can help cover
The Student Media Partnership focuses on non-athletic school activities. With district coordination and appropriate permissions, potential coverage can include:
- Band performances and events
- Theatre productions and behind-the-scenes features
- Choir performances and music programs
- Robotics teams and competitions
- FFA activities and student projects
- Academic UIL events and achievements
- Ceremonies, recognitions, and milestone programs
- Graduations and other school-community moments
- Student organizations, service initiatives, and campus stories
KIP TV does not promise athletic or game broadcasts through this partnership. The focus is on the many other parts of school life that deserve care, visibility, and student involvement.
What students learn
Students do more than appear in the content. They can participate in the work of making it. Depending on the district's comfort level and the project, students may learn about pre-production planning, camera operation, audio, interviewing, on-camera communication, story structure, production schedules, editing concepts, and crew responsibility.
These are practical skills. They ask students to arrive prepared, communicate clearly, solve problems, respect deadlines, and understand the difference between recording something and telling a story well. The experience can support students who are exploring media, communications, technology, marketing, journalism, the arts, ministry media, and other future paths.
Built for district comfort and family trust
KIP TV understands that school participation requires clear boundaries. Each district decides whether the partnership is a fit and what activities, students, locations, and timing are appropriate. KIP TV works with the designated district contact to establish an organized process before a project begins.
KIP TV handles parental consent for student participation in KIP TV-produced content. The district retains its own responsibility for any permissions it requires under its policies. We will coordinate with district leadership so the roles are clear, communication is documented, and families have the information they need.
Editorial comfort matters, too. KIP TV will work with districts on reasonable coordination, school context, and the type of coverage being considered. The partnership is intended to highlight student activity in a respectful manner, not create uncertainty for administrators, teachers, parents, or students.
Why this partnership matters
A school is more than a schedule of classes. It is a place where students practice, perform, build, compete academically, lead, serve, and mark important milestones. Those stories help families see the full life of a campus. They also give students a chance to recognize the skill and effort behind a finished program.
When appropriate content is ready for distribution, KIP TV offers a path toward real television platforms: Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, and Google TV. Content is delivered through the Orocast OTT platform at knowledgeispowernetwork.com. No subscription required.
